Ian and Minttu’s wedding at Villa il Cerretino

Some love stories are loud in the best possible way. Ian and Minttu are one of those couples who fill every room with warmth, laughter and an energy that is completely contagious. From the very first moment we met them, we knew their wedding was going to be something special, and Villa il Cerretino, in the Tuscan hills near Florence, was the perfect stage for it.

One of the things we love most about our work is stepping into a place for the first time and feeling its soul. Villa il Cerretino has that quiet kind of magic: old walls, art filled rooms and light that moves differently than anywhere else. It is the kind of venue that does not need to try.

A first look among paintings

Before the ceremony, Ian and Minttu chose to share their first look inside one of the villa’s art rooms. Surrounded by paintings and sculpture, the two of them stood face to face for the very first time on their wedding day. It was tender, genuine and full of the kind of joy that makes a photo feel like something you want to sit with forever.

A ceremony led by Minttu’s sister

The ceremony was celebrated by Minttu’s sister, a choice that gave the whole moment an intimacy no officiant could replicate. Words spoken by someone who has known you your whole life carry a different kind of weight, and you could feel it in the room.

While the vows were being exchanged, something quietly magical was happening in the background: a live artist captured the guests’ faces, their expressions and the atmosphere of the day in delicate watercolour portraits. Each guest received their own drawing, a small handmade keepsake bearing the names of Ian and Minttu and the date of their wedding. It was one of those details that perfectly reflected the soul of this couple: generous, creative and deeply thoughtful.

Golden light, sunset and dancing

What followed was pure celebration. An aperitivo in the golden light of late afternoon, guests mingling, glasses raised, the hills of Tuscany framing everything like a painting. By the time dinner began, the sun was setting and the sky was doing what Tuscan skies do best, turning the whole world soft, amber and impossibly beautiful.

We followed Ian and Minttu from getting ready all the way through to the dancing, and if there is one thing we can tell you about these two, it is that they never stopped smiling. Not once.

Photographing at Villa il Cerretino

Villa il Cerretino, in Poggio a Caiano, offers something different in every corner. Inside, the art rooms with their paintings and sculpture make a unique backdrop for a first look, and couples can get ready in separate rooms of the villa, as Alex and Erik did. The old walls, the courtyard and the lawn, and the swimming pool among the trees add even more variety.

The garden is where many portraits happen: we photographed Alex and Erik there during the aperitif and Joanne and Malcolm right after their ceremony, while for Serena and Daniele it even became a vintage bistro for the ceremony. Late afternoon brings golden light over the hills, and a meadow at golden hour gave us some of Ian and Minttu’s most joyful couple photos.
