Winter engagement photos in Florence are always something special, especially when the couple in front of our cameras is made of close friends. Gilda and Niccolò are part of our story, and having the honour of photographing their wedding felt incredibly meaningful to us as wedding photographers. Before the big day, we wanted to gift them an experience: a relaxed pre-wedding shoot in Florence, designed to help them feel at ease and truly enjoy being photographed.

Giardino dell’Orticoltura

For this session, we chose the Giardino dell’Orticoltura, a hidden gem in the city. The highlight was the Tepidarium del Roster, a Liberty-style greenhouse, whose elegant structure and soft winter light created a magical atmosphere for the photos. We also explored the panoramic entrance of the Orti del Parnasso, which offers a spectacular view over Florence, adding a breathtaking backdrop to the engagement session.

The Giardino dell’Orticoltura itself provided a quiet and elegant setting that felt intimate even in the heart of the city. The interplay of winter light and the greenhouse’s glass structure added softness, reflections, and a timeless mood, making it the perfect spot for their engagement photos in Florence.

Neither Gilda nor Niccolò had ever done a professional photoshoot before, and that’s exactly why this moment mattered so much. As Tuscany wedding photographers, we truly believe that engagement sessions are not just about beautiful images, but about connection and confidence. This shoot was designed to let them experience what it feels like to be photographed, to get comfortable in front of the camera, and to arrive on their wedding day feeling natural, confident, and completely themselves.

The second part of the session took place inside a historic building, where a large glass window became a key element of our storytelling. The natural light coming through the stained glass helped us play with light and shadow, creating strong contrasts and a more intimate, atmospheric mood. These moments allowed Gilda and Niccolò to slow down, forget the camera, and simply be together.
