Lauren and Paul’s wedding at Borgo Stomennano

A colorful, whimsical wedding among the vineyards near Siena, with a little bit of Scotland hidden in the flowers.

A medieval village near Siena

Borgo Stomennano is a magical venue with striking views over the vineyards and the rolling Tuscan hills near Siena. It is the perfect place for a destination wedding like this one, because it includes a fully refurbished medieval village that can host up to 40 people between the villa and the farmhouses.

The entire wedding, planned by Olivia Sodi, was open air, with fairy lights strung everywhere and ribbons and tea lights hanging from the trees.

Colorful, whimsical and relaxed

Lauren and Paul wanted a fun wedding, full of color and with a really relaxed vibe: good food, music and wine, embracing all the stunning scenery around. The best way to describe the theme is colorful and whimsical, with classic, rustic Italian touches.

The flowers by Voglia di Verde were so beautiful: wild, colorful and vibrant. The couple asked for a thistle so they could have a little bit of Scotland with them, a lovely personal touch.

The aperitivo was on the front lawn, with a view of Monteriggioni as the sun began to set. The Old Florence Dixie Band played while the guests stood around with a drink or sat on the traditional lawn furniture.

Dinner in the courtyard, then into the pool

For the al fresco dinner there was one long table curving along the courtyard under the fairy lights, with rustic seating, vintage mismatched plates, pastel glasses, tall colorful candles and flowers. The bride had written the table plan on a blackboard, then dressed it with foliage and flowers.

They had speeches followed by classic Italian food, then cut the cake with a pop of champagne! The bride changed into her party dress and everyone moved to the pool area for the first dance and an amazing night of drinking and dancing. It all ended with an unexpected dive into the pool by the groom and his groomsmen!
