A colourful elopement at Villa le Fontanelle, Florence
Villa le Fontanelle, a small castle overlooking Florence, was the setting of this romantic and colourful elopement. Originally a simple peasant farm, the villa became one of the properties of the Medici family in the 15th century. Over the centuries it was home to several families, who changed its look many times, including the gardens, inspired by the Gothic style.
Here Florence is not only the capital of the Renaissance, but the backdrop of a modern and colourful intimate wedding. A rainbow of colours framed their vows, balanced by touches of black and white: a chessboard of chairs and the notes of a white piano played by a flower girl dressed in black. Classical elements and contemporary style worked together in every single detail.
The bridal look
The bridal gown was made to measure by Alilà, a Florentine workshop of haute couture pieces. Silk, embroidery and jewels: every detail is carefully curated by Ilaria and Alicia to make you shine on your special day. A hot red lipstick and light makeup by Bianca del Giudice highlighted the natural beauty of the bride.
The 925 silver jewels, handcrafted, unique and customizable, were made by the Brandimarte master craftsmen in Florence, just like the glasses used to toast the couple’s new life together.
Flowers and a reception under the wisteria
The flowers by Voglia di Verde were an explosion, natural but powerful, delicate but colourful. They grew, climbed and finally blended with the objects, like the piano, the Gothic arch and the chandeliers above the dinner table, bringing them to life.
The reception took place under a wisteria pergola, a tunnel of fairy lights and crystal chandeliers set up by Alma Project. Magic and romance in the air, modernity and freshness on the table. The table setting played with contrasts to find balance: stripes met geometric designs, block colour candles and round oranges met the decorative Richard Ginori butterfly plates. A magic, happy, shiny box overlooking Florence: what better place to celebrate love?
Jazz, Iris Cakes and a photo booth
Jazz music accompanied the evening from dinner to the cake cutting. The wedding cake was unconventional: a series of small, colourful cakes, contemporary in look and historic (and secret!) in recipe, made with the same ingredients since 1933 by Pasticceria Gualtieri. The Iris Cake is named after the symbol of Florence, the white iris or giaggiolo, whose powder is hidden among the natural ingredients.
Besides being the official photographers of this story, we set up a photo booth with a natural background to print the memories of the day live. The wedding stationery and favours were curated by Tuscan Lab, and the day was filmed by Daniele Cribari.
